Waste Electrical and Electronic Program (WEEE)To all Nova Networks customers.

The Ontario Legislature passed the "Waste Diversion Act." Under this Act the "Waste Electrical and Electronic Program" (WEEE) was established. The Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) organization was mandated to operate the program.

The WEEE Program went into effect on April 1, 2009.

OES has developed a schedule of fees to be paid on the delivery of certain computer products into the province. The schedule is shown below.

All the money collected under the WEEE program will be used to recycle the computer equipment at designated collection sites, thus keeping them out of landfill. The collection sites must accept all products covered under the program for recycling at no cost to the public. In other words the fee paid on the purchase of the designated computer equipment is in fact a prepayment of any disposal cost that would otherwise be charged in the future. The Government of Ontario does not receive any money resulting from this program.

British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia already have similar programs.

Nova Networks will be including the appropriate fee on the designated items as a separate line item on our Sales Invoices.
